Speed/Traffic Testimony

Past event

The Select Board has scheduled a half hour to take testimony on the above subject - for ALL of Charlotte - beginning at 6:15 p.m. on MAY 13th.

There is only five minutes for public comment, on any subject, slated for Monday, 4/22. I will be there for both meetings, if you want to meet the troublemaker.

Coincidentally, another bicycling group is on the 4/22 agenda seeking Select Board approval to ride from Spear St. to Bingham Brook, to Hinesburg Road to Ferry Road and then to Greenbush on Sept 20th, 2019.

Other bicycling groups have already been given Board approval to race other roads. And there will be more requests, of course. Because where we live is beautiful! Who doesn't want to ride here?

I question what the town's liability is in formally approving these organized rides, while doing nothing to make the roads safer or to advise these riders of the potential dangers?

We've all seen races in other communities with signage announcing racers ahead, blue lights/sheriffs assisting at major road crossings, etc. etc.

Shouldn't this be part of the conditions of approval for any and all organized road races in our town?

Let's forget about all this just for a bit and have a Happy Easter!
