The snow has finally melted and it's time for our annual spring ritual of cleaning up Tinmouth's road sides. The Green Up committee and Conservation Commission have a fun-filled, family friendly event scheduled for Saturday, May 4th. There will be HOT COFFEE served at the Transfer Station starting at 8:30 AM to get us all revved up. Then, select a section of road to clean up, get your bags and go at it. We'll reunite at the Transfer Station at 11:00 for the GALA AWARDS CEREMONY with prizes for kids and FREE ICE CREAM.
We encourage families to bring your kids to share in the fun (and maybe get a wee lesson in civic responsibility and protecting the environment). No Green Up at Tinmouth School this year, so this is your chance to be part of the team.
If you can't make it Saturday morning, you can also do DIY Green Up by picking up bags from the Town Office and Greening Up at your convenience. But we urge folks to come Saturday if possible to build community spirit.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, including boots, work gloves, long pants and long-sleeved shirts (to help avoid ticks). For more info. on avoiding ticks, go to the VT. Dept. of Health website and search ticks.
Any items too large (or too yucky) for your car, we can pick up if you tell us where it is.
Like last year, we'll be offering Adopt-a-Road. This allows you to claim a section of roadway in town and keep it litter-free year-round as you walk or drive on it. In addition to keeping your neighborhood beautiful, this allows us to focus o other roads on Green Up Day to make sure we cover all the roads in town.
We hope to see you Saturday, May 4. Feel free to contact members of the Green Up Committee with any questions.
