Have you ever wondered where all those salamanders are going when they cross the road? Join us to see the answer for yourself! On April 28th, Alex Wells (coordinator of the Vernal Pool Monitoring Project at Vermont Center for Ecostudies, "VEC"), will be leading a guided exploration of a Hogback vernal pool. We'll meet at Southern Vermont Natural History Museum at 10 am and then hike out to a vernal pool, where we'll explore the fauna, demonstrate how VCE's vernal pool monitoring protocols work in the field, and how you can become a vernal pool citizen scientist with VCE. For more information or to register, visit the Vernal Pool Monitoring webpage* or contact Alex (awells@vtecostudies.org).

*How to find the webpage: Go to vtecostudies.org. Hover over the "Projects" tab in the white bar at the top. From the mini-menu that pops up, find Forests, and under that, click on Vernal Pool Conservation. Scroll down the new page that opens and click the "Learn More" button for the first topic listed: Vermont Vernal Pool Monitoring. Lots of good info there, as well as a link to Alex Wells.
