Haydn Concert @ Good Shepherd, 7 PM, 4/19, Good Friday

Good Shepherd is honored to host The Octet (four strings and four vocalists) performing Haydn's "The Seven Last Words of the Redeemer on the Cross", a worshipful music meditation based on the final sayings of Jesus, as found in the four gospels.The "Seven Last Words" will be sung in German, with a full English translation provided. Candles on a cross will gradually be extinguished. By turns tender, anguished, stark, and lyrical, the piece explores the final hours of Jesus' life and invites listeners into a deep experience.
The Octet musicians come together from all over Vermont, including Hardwick, Essex Junction, Cambridge and Underhill. Good Shepherd Church is located at 273 VT Route 15 in Jericho. There is on site parking and the facility is ADA accessible. Donations to defray the musicians' expenses will be accepted. Parents bringing young children are asked to take advantage of free childcare provided downstairs, to help maintain an atmosphere of quiet reflection.
