SBCC & MRC Joint Spring Concert Feat. 'Carmina Burana'

Past event
May 4, 2019, 7:30 to 9 PM

The upcoming joint spring concert of South Burlington Community Chorus and Mad River Chorale will feature the scenic cantata, "Carmina Burana" with MRC's conductor Mary Jane Austin on the podium, and Randall Thompson's "Alleluia," conducted by South Burlington's Erik Kroncke. Concerts will take place on Saturday May 4, 7:30 pm in the McCarthy Arts Recital Hall of St. Michael's College in Colchester and Sunday May 5, 4:00 pm in the auditorium of Harwood Union High School in Duxbury.

There will be 90 singers on the stage, 2 Grand pianos and a large percussion section!

Carmina Burana is said to be the most-performed choral work in the world. Singers and audiences enjoy the varied and exciting combination of secular poetry written by 13th century monks and 20th century music by Carl Orff. Thompson's "Alleluia" setting is one of the most loved versions because of its restrained, almost mystical elegance of expression.

Advance tickets to the Saturday evening concert at St. Michael's can be purchased at sbchorusvt.org or at
South Burlington Recreation office, 575 Dorset St. For advance tickets to the Sunday afternoon Harwood concert on May 5th, please visit madriverchorale.net or call 496-2048. Tickets will also be available at the door for both concerts.
