Evening of Poetry

This is Week 3 of National Poetry Month and 5-Town Friends of the Arts suggests trying these Random Acts of Poetry.

1. On Thursday, April 18, 6:30-8:00 pm Five Town Friends of the Arts and Lawrence Memorial Library are presenting an Evening of Poetry at the library in Bristol.
Everyone is encouraged to participate by bringing some of their favorite poetry to read aloud or recite. You are also welcome to just come listen, enjoy, and cheer your friends and neighbors on.

2. Have a poetry party. Get together with friends and try a group writing game in which everyone writes down a line then passes their paper on to the next person who writes another line. Before passing it on again fold the paper so that the only line showing is the last one written. After everyone has contributed, read the poems in their completed form. The results can be very funny and often surprisingly good!

3. Read a picture book written in verse or a nursery rhyme to a child.
