On Monday, April 22 starting at 6 p.m., there will be a meeting of Hardwick, Greensboro, Stannard and Woodbury voters at the Hardwick Elementary gym to elect board members for the new union elementary school district. The schools and superintendent's office are striving to put the new union district in place and operational by July 1 of this year. Election of this board is the first key step. Each town gets two seats on this board (for a total of an eight member board.)
This board will almost immediately make a decision on the combined budget to propose to voters in the four towns. It is anticipated that this budget will be voted on towards the end of May. This board will also almost immediately vote on what articles of agreement to propose to the voters of the four towns, also anticipated for the end of May.
Board members will be elected at this meeting after being nominated from the floor. Two current Woodbury School board members, Phoebe Slater and Kim Silk, have expressed interest in being the Woodbury representatives on the new union board. Of course, other interested persons from Woodbury may also be nominated from the floor at the meeting.
Other towns' representatives will also be nominated and voted on at this meeting. All members will be elected by the all the voters of all four towns in attendance at this meeting.
Woodbury voters are encouraged to attend and vote for members of this board which will be responsible for the future of the Woodbury, Hardwick and Lakeview schools.
