Traveling for the summer and want to commemorate your journey with a keepsake? Perhaps you want to capture the light in your backyard with a painting. Any subject that captures your imagination can be sketched, painted and enjoyed for years to come. Local artist Belle McDougall will be giving a workshop on accordion style watercolor sketchbooks on Wednesday, April 24th from 6-8 pm at the Waterbury Library. The first half of the workshop will focus on folding and making the sketchbook, and the second hour will be painting together. Even if you've never held a paintbrush, come! This class is designed for beginners and is an opportunity to unleash your creative side. A variety of still life objects will be available for inspiration. By the end of the class, not only will you have a new sketchbook to enjoy, but the skill to make more, and the opportunity to create memories of your journeys, travels and experiences.
Materials will be provided, however if you have watercolors, a brush or two, or black artist fine-liner pens, you are welcome to bring them to class. Examples of sketchbooks will be provided.
Belle McDougall is a local soft pastel artist who dabbles in watercolor during her travels. She lives with her family in Waterbury Center. Her studio is a place to paint and explore color and light while inspired by the beautiful landscapes of Central Vermont and beyond.
Jumpstart your spring and summer artistic adventures with this fun and creative watercolor workshop. Class size limited to 10. $5.00 materials fee. For ages 12 and up. Call the library at 244-7036 to register.
