Backyard Mushroom Log Cultivation - AM & PM Sessions

Past event
May 11, 2019, 9 AM to 12 PM

Are you interested in growing gourmet mushrooms in your own backyard? If so, join us for a hands-on experience in mushroom log cultivation! We'll be getting hands-on with Rowan Cignoni and Chuck Courcy, at the Rock Point Commons, as we prepare this season's batch of fresh shiitake mushroom logs.

We'll explore tools, tips, and techniques learned through years of trial-and-error of working with and growing gourmet fungi. If you've been considering integrating more fungi into your diet, learning a new homesteader's skill, or even starting your own backyard micro-enterprise, this class is for you!

Expect to be working outside, with power tools - we encourage all participants to get involved in every step, at every level (by choice, of course). We'll supply all the safety equipment and materials. Due to the intensive nature of this course, space is limited, so register ASAP. We'll be offering a morning and afternoon session to meet the demand for this high-value course.

For the Morning Session, we'll meet across from the Rock Point Archdiocese Offices (approximately 5 Rock Point Road, Burlington, VT), on Saturday, May 11th, from 9:00am - 12:00pm, rain or shine!

For the Afternoon Session, we'll meet across from the Rock Point Archdiocese Offices (approximately 5 Rock Point Road, Burlington, VT), on Saturday, May 11th, from 1:00pm - 4:00pm, rain or shine!

This event is by registration (sliding-scale donation) only, and 100% of proceeds support our work with the Rock Point Commons and purchase educational materials.
