Spring into Beekeeping Workshop

Past event
May 19, 2019, 10 AM to 1 PM

Our Second Annual Spring Into Beekeeping demo! We're teaming up again with Chuck Courcy - one of the resident beekeepers at the Rock Point Commons - to offer the first installment of our Beekeeper's short courses.

This initial course, which has limited space (so register ASAP!), will cover the basics of staging your Spring apiary. We'll provide beekeeper's suits, explore the layout of our own colonies and their hives, and cover some the basics of early-season colony management, health, and hive locations. We'll also build some new boxes and frames for this year's hives. If you're new to beekeeping, or have considered starting an apiary of your own, or if you just love seeing pollinators in action, come join us!

We'll be meeting in the public parking area, across from the Archdiocese Offices (approximately 5 Rock Point Road, Burlington VT) on Sunday, May 19th, at 10:00 am and we'll run until about 1:00pm.

This event is by registration (sliding-scale donation) only, and 100% of proceeds support our work with the Rock Point Commons to nurture our small apiary and provide ongoing education.
