Amherst Professor Considers the Power of Mindset - First Wednesdays Talk (rescheduled from February)
Amherst College professor Catherine A. Sanderson will discuss the power of mindset in affecting life outcomes in a talk at First Congregational Church in Manchester on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00 pm. Her talk, "There is Nothing Either Good or Bad, But Thinking Makes It So," is part of the Vermont Humanities Council's First Wednesdays lecture series and is free and open to the public. Talks in Manchester are hosted by Manchester Community Library. This talk was rescheduled from February.
"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." Is this famous quotation from Hamlet true? Sanderson, author of The Positive Shift, will outline the significant difference we can make in our daily lives simply by adjusting our outlook.
Catherine A. Sanderson is the Manwell Family Professor of Life Sciences (Psychology) at Amherst College. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology, with a specialization in Health and Development, from Stanford University, and received both masters and doctoral degrees in psychology from Princeton University. Her research examines how personality and social variables influence health-related behaviors. She has published over 25 journal articles and book chapters in addition to four college textbooks, a high school health textbook, and a popular press book on parenting. In 2012, she was named one of the country's top 300 professors by the Princeton Review.
