Former NFL Quarterback Shares Story of Mental Illness, Opioid Addiction, and Finding Purpose
When Ryan Leaf's promising career as a star NFL quarterback came to a disappointing end, he forged a new path based on his personal challenges with mental health and addiction. Using his experience and empathy, he now advocates for the recovery community. Leaf supports those in need of hope, and is dedicated to reaching anyone who cannot yet imagine a better life for themselves.
At a free public event sponsored by NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, Leaf will tell the story of his journey from being one of the nation's most sought-after athletes to contemplating his choices from a jail cell. Students, families, health practitioners, and anyone interested in hearing Leaf's story are encouraged to attend this community event. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions.
