The Vermont Fiddle Orchestra under the direction of David Kaynor will perform its annual Spring Concert Saturday, April 13 at 7 PM at the Barre Opera House. Special guest soloists will be Appalachian musicians Katie and Corie Pressley. The orchestra will perform traditional dance and fiddle tunes from several traditions around the North Atlantic, as well as compositions by David Kaynor and Katie Pressley.
The Pressley Girls were born and raised in Brasstown, North Carolina and are an authentic Appalachian duet that focuses on tight harmony and lyrical meaning, performing a wide range of music including Folk, Bluegrass, Gospel, and Country. Corie, on guitar and mandolin sings harmony with her sister Katie, singing lead and playing fiddle and piano. Both are also cloggers. The VFO is excited to welcome the Pressley Girls to Vermont.
David Kaynor, VFO's beloved director, was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) last fall. This concert is a celebration of his inspiring musicality, leadership and great personality. The concert is by donation and is general seating, thanks to generous grants from the Northfield Saving Bank and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group.
