Families Affected by Substance Use Group Class

The Behavioral Health and Wellness Center (BHWC) is a local behavioral health and substance use treatment and support center on Washington Highway in Morrisville.

For every person who has a substance use issue, on average 4 loved ones are impacted. Many of these people are left to deal with these challenges on their own. In response to the many requests for supports for adults impacted by a family member's substance use – many of them wondering where to even start – BHWC is starting up a new group class.

This group will be led by Meagan DeWitt, LADC and Ben Sklarski, MA and will focus on the many issues that family members face when loved ones are dealing with substance use issues. The goals of the class are to create a safe and confidential environment where people can connect over these shared experiences, learn how to manage the challenges unique to your family, and practice new approaches to supporting a loved one. Meagan and Ben are experienced group leaders who are excited to be offering this new service.

The class will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm beginning April 16th. It will run for eight weeks and is available free of charge with food provided. If you have questions, or you or someone you know would benefit from any of these services, call Meagan DeWitt at 851-8822. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00.

The BHWC is one practice within Community Health Services of Lamoille Valley (CHSLV), a Morrisville/Stowe based community health center, that consists of six health practices, including Morrisville Family Health, Stowe Family Practice, the Neurology Clinic, Appleseed Pediatrics, and the Community Dental Clinic. The BHWC offers outpatient psychiatric supports as well as behavioral health and substance use supports, provided by licensed professionals.
