Poemtown by BES 3rd Graders - Gallery Reception

Past event
Apr 5, 2019, 5 to 7 PM

Poemtown, will be featured in the Gallery at The Space On Main for the month of April. Come visit with the students during the opening reception on April 5th (First Friday) 5:00–7:00pm. Public viewing hours will be held 3:00–5:00pm on subsequent Fridays throughout the month.

Third graders at Bradford Elementary School learned about the illustrations of Eric Carle, author of hundreds of children's books including "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" The students created textured paintings, which they later used to cut apart into collages of colorful animals, both real and imagined. The students also learned about different types of poetry, and wrote a poem inspired by their art.

This exhibition is a collaboration between the art and library programs at Bradford Elementary School, the third grade classroom teachers at BES, and the Bradford Public Library.
