Local Emergency Services members will conduct a simulated Mass Casualty Exercise in Waitsfield VT on the morning of Saturday April 6, 2019 from 9 to 11 AM. The goal of this exercise is to practice effective response to a large-scale incident requiring multiple area EMS and Fire services. Participating agencies include Mad River Valley Ambulance, Northfield Ambulance, Waterbury Ambulance, Waitsfield/Fayston Fire Department, Waitsfield Emergency Management, and Vermont Emergency Management.
Emergency vehicles and personnel will be visible on Route 100/Main Street between the Town Office and Waitsfield/Champlain Telecomm, and we want to be sure our community understands this is only an exercise, not an actual incident. All agencies will retain the capacity to respond should any real emergencies occur during this time.
To avoid delays, local residents and guests are asked to use the North entrance to access the Old County Road between 9 and 11 AM, as exercise vehicles will be using the South entrance.
Anyone with questions about the exercise may contact the Exercise Public Information Officer, Howie McCausland at 802-989-2541 or via email at howie@middlebury.edu.
Vermont EMS District 6 and participating agencies are deeply appreciative to Waitsfield/Champlain Valley Telecom for offering the use of their property for this important exercise.
