Greetings from the U-32 School Board. This Wednesday April 3rd at 6:00pm, we will host a forum in anticipation of the April 9 budget vote by our five towns. At just over $15 million, the proposed budget represents a 2.99% increase in education spending. Given a decline in our student numbers, spending per equalized pupil is estimated to increase by 4.17%. In order to contain expenses, this budget includes the reduction of several educational support positions. Because of the uncertainties that surround the forced merger, even after you vote April 9 on the U-32 budget, you may still be called upon to vote on a single merged budget for all our schools in all our five towns.
