The Artist In Residence Gallery at 10 S. Main St in St. Albans invites you to our monthly Featured Artists Reception on Thursday, April 4th, 2019 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The Gallery is the setting for the beautiful work of 40 outstanding Vermont artists in a wide range of mediums with prices. Each month our artists gather to socialize with our visitors and our featured artist give a brief presentation about their work. Light refreshments and pleasant conversation are available.
The three featured artists for the month of April are Maureen Genzlinger, Barry Genzlinger and Anne Standish.
Maureen Genzlinger makes decorative fiber ornaments using a variety of materials including silk ribbons, hand spun and hand dyed threads, and textured yarns. Since she began this pursuit in 1979 her process has evolved to include complex wrapping techniques. In addition to single ornaments, multiple forms are combined into mobiles and beautiful display stands are created from reclaimed wood scraps. Maureen is one of April's featured artists at the Artist in Residence gallery in St-Albans, VT.
Barry Genzlinger learned as a child to build things, and was taught by his grandfather to turn wood pieces on a lathe. In recent years he discovered an aptitude for making small things, first spinning tops and then small bowls, using a wide variety of woods, including reclaimed and repurposed wood. His smallest piece, to date, is a goblet that is only 1/4 inch in diameter. Barry is one of April's featured artists at the Artist In Residence gallery in St. Albans, VT.
Anne Standish creates quilts as art inspired by Vermont landscapes. Anne's roots are in sewing and quilting, and art quilts are her avocation. She has devoted much of her creative energy to finding new ways to make representational images of real places with fabric, photographs printed onto fabric, thread and paint. In her latest work, she focused on detailed improvisational threadwork, creating dense color and texture as well as a story line. Anne is one of April's featured artists at the Artist In Residence gallery in St. Albans, VT.
