Richmond will be hosting 60-100 climate walkers for dinner on Sunday, April 7, 2019, and we are looking for volunteers to assist with this effort. The dinner will be held at 5:30 PM at the Richmond Free Lirary and is being organized by Richmond's Climate Action Committee. We are looking mainly for FOOD -- these walkers likely will be hungry! Potluck dishes of every sort would be wonderful, and you are also welcome to bring yourself to dine with the walkers and share your concerns about climate change. Other help we could use includes your time for set-up and clean-up; donations of uncooked food or money, or musical entertainment.
The walk, a 350vt.org effort, aims to raise awareness about the urgency of the climate change threat and to spur more action at the state level. If you are interested in further information about the walk visit www.350vt.org and click on "Next Steps: A Climate Solutions Walk." Walkers can join for all or any part of the journey. Some Richmond residents are joining either for the Hinesurg-Richmond leg (April 7) or the Richmond-Middlesex leg (April 8). There will be a rally at the Statehouse on the final day of the walk.
To donate a dish or volunteer, please email or call Ian Stokes at istokes@gmavt.net (802-434-4425) so that we will know how much food we will have on hand. Potluck dishes should be delivered to the Library or to the Richmond Community Kitchen from 4 - 5 PM on the 7th, or at some other time by special arrangement. Please write up a card listing all ingredients so those with dietary restrictions can know which food to select. Also be sure to leave your name and contact information so we will know where to return the containers. Uncooked food should be delivered to RCK as near to 4 PM as possible or, even better, sooner by arrangement. Please contact Ian if you have any questions.
