This coming Tuesday, April 2 is the next Scrabble Night at the library, starting at 7:00.
The following one will be Monday, April 15th.
*If you intend to play, please be at the library a little before 7:00 pm so the volunteer on duty knows not to close and to hand over a key.*
Based on the feedback from the group, we have decided that unless there are enough players for two boards, "Library House Rules" will be the original Scrabble rules (on the game's box top):
"All words labeled as a part of speech (including those listed of foreign origin, and as archaic, obsolete, colloquial, slang, etc.) are permitted with the exception of the following: words always capitalized, abbreviations, prefixes and suffixes standing alone, words requiring a hyphen or an apostrophe." Any word may be challenged before the next player begins her turn. A dictionary is consulted for challenges only, and the dictionary will be a standard English dictionary. If there are enough players for two boards and the more "serious" players agree to use the Scrabble dictionary, have at it!
