Royalton Community Radio (RCR) will celebrate its 1st anniversary on Saturday, March 22nd with a "Broadcast Benefit Birthday Party" to be be held at the Royalton Academy building on Rte. 14 in Royalton, VT. This public celebration will feature homemade soups, Red Hen breads, salad and light refreshments. Musical entertainment will be provided by Bitter Greens (Americana) and Rockit Science (blues/rock). Both bands feature members/DJ's from RCR's volunteer air staff. The party runs from 6-10PM with admission by a suggested donation of $20. A payment of $25 secures the donor a station membership for the coming year. Additionally, the station will be conducting a 50/50 Raffle.
RCR 's birthday fundraiser is the official kick-off of a capital campaign to raise $10K to allow the station to purchase a transmitter, an emergency transmitter, an antenna and engineering services so that it can begin regular FM broadcasting at 96.5FM from South Royalton later this year. The station received its LPFM Construction Permit from the FCC in January and looks forward to expanding its mission of providing diverse, overlooked local programming that "reflects the values of environmental/agricultural sustainability, freedom of expression, grassroots democracy and the uniqueness of our creative cultural community."
The all-volunteer station is staffed by nearly 60 community programmers from numerous towns in the Upper White River Watershed...and programs 50 locally produced music and public affairs shows every week. RCR's programming can be streamed via computer or mobile device at http://royaltonradio.org.
