The Stern Center for Language and Learning announces two unforgettable nights of improv comedy May 2 and 3 at Arts Riot in Burlington. A trio of nationally acclaimed improvisors with ties to HBO, Comedy Central, and Chicago's Second City returns for two shows each night.

Vermont natives Steve Waltien and Andrew Knox join forces with Kate James, bringing their side-splitting wit and creative genius to help support the Stern Center's professional learning programs for educators and customized instruction for students.

Waltien grew up in Shelburne, Vermont, and graduated from Middlebury College. An alum of The Second City Mainstage in Chicago, Waltien wrote and performed shows at the iO theater for several years. He also tours with The Improvised Shakespeare Company. Other credits include The Second City Project, Chicago PD and Mike Birbiglia's film Don't Think Twice. Currently he is a staff writer for Comedy Central's upcoming 'Klepper.'

Knox, also a Shelburne native, graduated from Rice Memorial High School and currently lives in Chicago where he is an ensemble member in The Second City etc, Fantastic Great Super Nation Numero Uno and Gaslight District. An alum of The Second City Touring Company, Knox is also a member of the Improvised Shakespeare Company (iO Theater). Other credits include the Off-Broadway production of BLANK! The Musical (New World Stages) and Baby Wants Candy.

James is a New York-based comedy writer and improvisor who helped launch Chicago's Schadenfreude comedy ensemble. She currently creates and performs for Hello from the Magic Tavern, an improvised comedy podcast. Writing credits include The Second City Guide to the Opera (performed at Lyric Opera Chicago starring Renee Fleming and Patrick Stewart), Lyric Opera's 60th Anniversary Gala starring Jane Lynch and Renee Fleming, and The Art of Falling, a collaboration between The Second City and Hubbard Street Dance.
