Irasburg Town Hall is host to this year's statewide shape note/sacred harp sing. Shape note singing evolved from the singing schools of New England early settlers, continued in the Deep South and Appalachia, and has experienced a big revival in the last fifty years. Named for the shaped notes used to help people learn to sing, the rousing four part harmonies often have dark, religious lyrics and tunes ranging from familiar hymns to rowdy old bar tunes. Great fun for singers of all ages!
Join us for an hour or all day, to sing or to listen. Lunch is always a great potluck!
