The second in a series of Art Walks is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 29th from 6pm-9pm in Chelsea-Tunbridge.
Start your evening off at Orange County Parent Child Center (OCPCC) in Tunbridge at 5:30 pm with cookies, milk, and art. Inspired by the book Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, youth participants in OCPCC programming created paper "story" quilts and a collective paper quilt together, which will be on display at the center.
Next, drive on down Route 110 to Chelsea Village and check out three more art venues.
SafeArt will be displaying the collective works of the Healing Arts For Women groups. During the month of February, participants in these groups spent time crafting vision boards, using collage materials to represent all that they would like to see come to fruition this year. SafeArt's second exhibition will feature the visions of each of these women, along with other artworks they have created together.
Chelsea Public Library will be holding the opening reception for Brookfield artist, Marcia Hammond. Her solo-exhibition titled, Promises of Spring, features the artist's seasonally-inspired watercolors. A seasoned artist herself, Hammond's subject matter and medium have evolved over the years, but this particular show highlights the softness and color of her still lifes and landscapes.
The library's youth program also has plans to curate a season-appropriate path between venues. We look forward to the surprise!
And North Common Arts will be hosting the opening reception for Chelsea artist, Nick Defriez, in their main gallery. His solo-exhibition titled, Glass Onions, will feature De Friez's recently-adopted technique and process of painting on glass.
"A glass onion can be a bottle on a ship for holding brandy, a glass-lidded coffin, or an object that if you peeled away the layers you would see that its meaning is transparent," conveys De Friez through his new body of work that will remain on display until mid-May.
