Under the direction of Matthew LaRocca (Middlebury College alum) and Castleton University Choir director Dr. Sherrill Blodget, the Champlain Philharmonic and the Castleton University Chorale team up to perform several noted works from the 19th century for chorus and orchestra in a program entitled "Flourish." On the program will be Dvorák's upbeat and energetic Carnival Overture; Beethoven's Fantasia in C Minor, also known as the Choral Fantasy (with many hints of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in this piece!), featuring Castleton faculty member & pianist Dr. Charles Madsen; Gabriel Fauré's lyrical and beautiful Pavane, Op. 50; and Dvorák's stirring Te Deum, Op 103.
Performance takes place at the Middlebury Congregational Church, corner of Main Street and Route 7. Tickets in advance (see website) or at the door (cash/checks: $15, $12 seniors, $5 students) … visit http://www.champlainphilharmonic.org//concert-schedule for more information.
The concert also will be performed at 4pm on Sunday afternoon, March 31 at Casella Theater on the Castleton campus.
Come enjoy hearing and seeing our local community orchestra perform!
