Dr. Helen Whitney McIver
Helen Whitney McIver is a consultant forest ecologist. She studied Botany/ecology at UConn, received a MSc in Forest Ecology from Virginia Tech for natural disturbances (ice storms, wind damage in Appalachians) and a PhD from UVM in Forest Dynamics, concerned with the effects of acid rain and air pollution. She spent 15 years at the University of Edinburgh researching and teaching  transformation of plantation forestry, biometrics and dendrology. Dr McIver was also the Executive Director Of the Edinburgh Center for Tropical Forests, which initiated multidisciplinary research and practical application of science into the field. She was an advisor to the Overseas Development Agency (UK) to review ecological grants for funding. Returning to the US she lectured at UMinnesota, Yale and community colleges. Dr McIver has lectured also for Elderhostel, Roads Scholars and other community programs primarily on climate change, but including a variety of subject from Lewis and Clark to history of medicine. She also reviews books. She continues to have research interests in forest history, forest dynamics and global warming.

Dan Young
40 years experience as Chemical/Environmental engineer. Graduated from University of California, Berkeley with BS in chemical engineering. Master's degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology with MS in environmental science. Six years experience in pharmaceutical chemical industry, ten years experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment, four years experience in process energy consulting for food and chemical industries. Founder and owner of DAY Environmental Engineering, consulting firm doing environmental assessment and remediation studies for chemical industries and fuel handling facilities.He is currently retired, pursuing interests in sustainability in life styles and industrial processes.
