Past event
Mar 25, 2019, 5:30 to 6:30 PM

When: 5:30 - 6:30 PM, March 25th
Where: Over the Wall, Tequila Bar (2160 Mountain Rd, Stowe, VT 05672, USA)

Join the LRSWMD at Over the Wall Tequila Bar for a causal informational meeting about how to help your housing associations meet the mandates of the Act 148. We want you to be aware that, due to the requirements of Act 148: Vermont's Universal Recycling Law, your clients may soon be asking you to manage their food scraps (organic waste), in addition to their trash and recycling.

As you may know, Act 148 was passed unanimously by the Vermont Legislature in 2012 to help reduce the amount of reusable and recyclable material (including organic waste) that goes to the landfill. This law calls for a phased in disposal ban on certain items. Recyclables, leaf and yard debris, and clean wood debris have already been banned from the landfill. Beginning July 1st, 2020, food scraps will also be banned from the landfill.

With the food scrap ban on the horizon, we would like to provide resources to prepare you to manage the food scraps of your clients. Join us at this meeting where we will provide the food and the information to help you help your clients and residents abide by the law. Call 888-7317 to RSVP or email americorps@lrswmd.org.
