There are still a few spots available in a cooking class I'm teaching with Jim McCarthy, the Executive Chef at Shelburne Farms, from 6:00-8:30 on Thursday, the 28th, at Richmond Community Kitchen. Here's an overview:
Want to prepare healthy meals, reduce food waste and save time and money? Just by making small changes in your cooking habits, you can do all these things and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions. In this inspiring hands-on class, we'll prepare a meal and share the following tips and strategies to become more efficient in the kitchen and reduce food waste:
- Meal planning,
- How to store foods properly and friend your freezer,
- Loving your leftovers,
- Understanding expiration dates, and
- No-recipe, batch, and scrap-based cooking.
Tickets are $25. To register and for more information, go to https://sevendaystickets.com/events/foodwaste. The workshop is sponsored by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and Shelburne Farms. Questions? Contact Anne at 802-522-5783 or anne.bijur@vermont.gov.
