Coming up Thursday on Goddard College Community Radio - a Vermont senate committee proposes empowering towns to do more, and a rural co-op prepares to celebrate its 85th anniversary.
9:00 - 10:00 am
Last year, we discussed how little power towns in Vermont have to make their own decisions. Now, a senate committee has unanimously voted out S.106, a bill to establish a pilot program for self-governance authority at the local level. Karen Horn of the Vermont League of Cities and Towns will be on to explain what is at stake.
The Adamant Co-op, at the border of East Montpelier and Calais, will be celebrating in 2020 85 years of continuous operation. Co-manager Andrea Serota and board member Janet MacLeod will talk about why they consider the retail store in the village without paved roads to be a gem, and how it has stayed successful for 84 years.
10:00 - 10:30 am
Resilience Thoughts, a locally told Extempo story, plus upcoming events related to energy, food, and the local economy at the end of the age of oil.
