Why do people seem to support policies that are against their best interests?
If you would like to discuss this topic, I invite you to attend the next Friends Cafe at the Hartland Library.

There will be a short video featuring an interview with Arlie Hochschild, who wrote the book, Strangers in Their Own Land. It documents her experiences in Louisiana, where they can't eat the fish or drink the water. It's about the most polluted state in the Union, yet they despise the EPA and most environmental regulations. Hochschild has interviewed people on both sides of the issues. It's an interesting deep dive into why people support policies that are against their apparent best interests.

I would like to share this discussion with you. Lets work together to discover how to solve issues that affect all of us.
