On Wednesday, March 20 at 1:30 pm: The Sheldon presents "Punch Needle Rug Hooking and its Vermont Roots" as part of the Sheldon's Did You Know? series. Artist and teacher Amy Oxford will trace the origins of punch needle rug hooking, a craft that started in the 1880s, and will go on to discuss its growth and popularity, drastic decline, 1970's Vermont revival, and the current international punch needle craze that has swept social media. Amy will offer an opportunity for anyone interested to give the craft a try. Did you know Amy invented her own rug making tool and in 2013 started the world's first punch needle rug hooking school in Cornwall, attended by students from all over the world?

Cost: $20/$10 for Sheldon members. Advance registration is recommended online at www.henrysheldonmuseum.org or by calling 802-388-2117. Proceeds from the series will benefit the Sheldon Museum's education programs. For more information about the other talks presented in the Did You Know? series, visit www.henrysheldonmuseum.org. The Sheldon Museum is located at One Park Street, Middlebury.
