*An Evening of Classical Music and Improvisation in West Newbury, March 21*
Katharine DeBoer, soprano, and James Winn, pianist, will join forces for an evening of music by Haydn, Barber, Ravel, and Vaughan Williams and improvisation by Dr. Winn. The performers, both of whom have performed widely in North America, Europe and Japan, met while on the faculty at the University of Nevada. Dr. DeBoer, now of Bradford VT, retired as Director of Vocal Studies. She has performed to critical acclaim as a soloist with choral societies, orchestras and opera companies. Dr. Winn, piano and composition professor, debuted as a soloist with the Denver Symphony at age 13. His career has spanned work as soloist with the New York City Ballet, and frequent guest appearances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He is a recording artist, chamber musician and composer and has presented numerous world premiers of his own work as well as others.
