The VT Genealogy Library will host a talk on Italian genealogy research this Saturday beginning at 10:30 AM in their classroom at Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester.
Finding your Italian roots can be difficult for even the most experienced genealogist but it can be made easier if you have an understanding of Italy and its emigration patterns. In this presentation Bruce Dumelin will provide a look at the history of Italy, the migration patterns, and unique naming conventions of villages as well as within the family. The goal of this interactive discussion is to provide one or more tools that will help you unlock your Italian roots.
The class fee is $10 and it also entitles visitors to research from 10 AM to 4 PM at the library. There will be a Question & Answer period after the talk and volunteers will be available to give tours of the library & assist visitors get started with any research. Coffee, tea and light snacks are available.
