Ukrainian Egg Painting Demonstration

Past event
Mar 22, 2014, 12 to 2 PM

Watch as Theresa Somerset of Essex Junction transforms a simple egg into an elaborate work of art. These painted eggs—yes, they are real!—are created in keeping with an ancient Ukrainian technique called Pysanka, which means “to write on.” The method is wax-resist, much like batik, used with intensely colored dyes. Meet the artist and watch as her creations take shape and all the wax is melted off to reveal the final complex design. Free & family-friendly. Info: 453-4032, info@artonmain.net, FB: ArtonMainVT
