Governor David Zuckerman, and the Rights & Democracy Education Fund for an evening listening session and discussion about racial justice, raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, universal health care, ensuring clean water, a just transition to a 100% real renewable future, and more.
"At a time when legislators are debating and discussing some of the most important issues facing out state, if not our country, we see these forums as a way to bring people together to talk about their shared experiences and facilitate a discussion about what they want see for solutions in their communities and in the Legislature," said James Haslam, Executive Director of RADEF and RAD.
Town Halls are planned for Bellows Falls, Rutland, St. Albans, Hardwick, Waitsfield, Vergennes, and Montpelier, among other possible locations. Local groups, such as the Rutland Area NAACP and the Vermont Youth Lobby, are co-sponsoring select events.
The special guest speaker at each of the Town Halls will be Lt. Governor David Zuckerman. Additional speakers will include local legislators, community leaders, and community members who are working on ways to solve these issues in their community or across the state.
"Events like allow political leaders a chance to hear first-hand from their constituents," said Lt. Governor Zuckerman. "I personally look forward to this opportunity to listen to Vermonters and better understand the day to day issues they are facing and the ideas they have for our state."
