VT Reads: "March" and Black Freedom Movement Discussion

Tuesday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m., at the Jeudevine Memorial Library in Hardwick, Lyndonville resident Penny Patch will speak about her time as an organizer for SNCC (Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee) from 1962-1965 in Georgia and Mississippi. She organized and participated in demonstrations to desegregate public accommodations, took part in sit-ins, assisted with voter registration, got arrested, and taught in Freedom Schools.

Free copies of the graphic novel "March: Book One" by John Lewis, former chairman of SNCC and current congressman, are available at the Jeudevine Memorial Library and Woodbury Community Library. These books are provided by the Vermont Humanities Council through the Vermont Reads program.
