Lake Road Ash Tree Removals - Public Hearing

Past event
Mar 18, 2019, 7 to 8 PM

There will be a public hearing on Monday March 18 at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall to discuss the planned removal of ash trees within the right-of-way on Lake Road from Thompson's Point Road to Ferry Road. Every ash tree that is not chemically treated will die within the next few years due to emerald ash borer. To ensure public safety, free movement of vehicles, and to minimize overall cost to tax payers, the Town of Charlotte intends to take a proactive approach by preemptively removing currently live trees. The wood and chips from the cuttings will be available to landowners if desired. The hearing will be an opportunity to learn why the town is pursuing this policy, ask questions, and voice objection. I will also be addressing the topic of preemptive removals at Town Meeting Day on March 5th.
