Where: North Branch Nature Center, Montpelier, VT

Time: 1 pm - 3 pm
In the past few years, words and phrases like "permaculture" and "sustainable agriculture" have become popular among organic farmers and gardeners, but what do these terms really mean, and why does the Rodale Institute instead promote something they call "regeneration gardening"?

As our human populations overspread the earth, our topsoil erodes away and our vital natural resources dwindle, it becomes ever more important that we Master Gardeners implement and teach regenerative gardening practices and help lead the way to a healthier future for planet Earth.

Please join Mike Ather at the North Branch Nature Center on Sunday, March 3 to learn about exciting, natural gardening and landscaping practices that will improve your soil, encourage and increase pollinator and songbird diversity, and even help clean up our waterways, all while improving your diet and overall health.

Mike Ather, a seventh generation Vermonter, is a lifelong naturalist, photographer, and owner of BackyardWilderness.com.

Graduating from the UVM Environmental Studies Program in 1976, Mike is an alumnus of Gardener's Supply Company, where he still presents yearly Soil 101 and Composting 101 seminars. A Master Gardener and Master Composter, Mike has also been an instructor for the UVM Master Composter program for several years.

Through BackyardWilderness.com Mike hosts wild plant and mushroom walks at numerous locations from April to November each year, and is a regular presenter on composting, vermiculture, organic soils, wild edibles, homestead ecology, backyard diversity, and "Gardening like the First People of Vermont" for schools, businesses, and community groups throughout Vermont.

Mike has written articles for Organic Gardening magazine, New Pioneer Magazine, and The Baltimore Sun, and appeared in articles in Burlington Free Press, Rutland Herald, Barre Times Argus, and various community and business newsletters.
