Theresa Snow, Founder and Executive Director of Salvation Farms will present the eighth of our nine lectures, Salvation Farms, sponsored by the Lamoille Valley Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on Wednesday, February 27th at the Commodores Inn on lower Main Street, Route 100 South in Stowe. Sessions start at 1:30 p.m.

The goal of Salvation Farms is to reduce food loss on farms, increase the use of locally grown foods and foster an appreciation for Vermont's agricultural heritage and future. Its work is rooted in sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and experiential education. Salvation Farms is known for its gleaning and Vermont Commodities programs. Learn how one woman with a dream is realizing that dream and inspiring others to share in it.

Theresa has worked in Vermont's agricultural sector for more than 20 years. She founded Salvation Farms in 2004, receiving both regional and national awards for her work. In 2018, she received the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility's Young Changemaker Award. Theresa has a degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management from Sterling College, has worked with well-known Vermont agricultural businesses like Pete's Greens and High Mowing Organic Seeds, and served as Director of Agricultural Resources for the Vermont Food Bank.

There is a $5 charge for non-members of Osher.

On March 6 Katherine Bielawa Stamper will present a lecture entitled "Living Behind the Iron Curtain in the 1980's: A Look Back." She will talk about her experiences living in Poland during the waning years of communism and the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Join us for coffee and refreshments immediately following the presentation. Special thanks to local Stowe resident, Adi Barnett, and the Stowe Historical Society for this semester's baked goods.
