March Gladness Series

Past event
Mar 3, 2019, 1:30 to 3 PM

The Conservation Commission presents its annual March Gladness Series starting on March 3rd. Living Alongside Black Bears will be an informative and entertaining talk by Dean Locke at the Johnson Public Library at 1:30 pm.

Vermont has one of the densest populations of black bears in the country. With approximately one bear for every three square miles of land, you may very well see one on a piece of land near you. According to Dean Locke black bears prefer wild areas away from people; however when natural food supplies do not satisfy their needs, bears can become a nuisance or even a danger to folks around them. Dean will present the bear facts while dispelling any myths about the only bear found in Vermont.

Dean Locke is a member of the Johnson Conservation Commission and an avid outdoors man. He encourages you to bring your tales or experiences with black bears to the discussion at the Johnson Public Library. This event is free and open to all. More information at 635-7826.
