9:30 AM 2:30 PM
Vermont State House, Montpelier

At the second of event of Rural Vermont's State House series, farmers and their allies will be able to speak with both the House and Senate Agriculture Committees. You do not have to speak in order to participate – simply your presence in the State House and the Committee rooms has a big impact!

We are asking participants to bring stories from their farms and communities that relate to: particular challenges and/or opportunities they see, and any of the core issues Rural Vermont is working on, including: Maintaining and improving the On-Farm Slaughter law; how current and proposed regulations of wetlands affect farmers; funding for water quality; proposed changes to Act 250 that would affect agricultural and forestry practices; funding for Farm-to-School and Farm to Plate programs; and supporting agricultural practices that grow soil and climate change resiliency.

In addition to the opportunity to participate in the Committee meetings, Rural Vermont will provide a briefing on our core issues, an overview of the legislative process, and help you connect with your own elected representatives.
