4-H Play: Maple Syrup and Pancakes!

Past event
Mar 9, 2019, 9 to 11 AM

Kids ages 5 - 7 are invited to come see how to identify sugar maple trees, set a tap, and (if the weather is right) watch some sap flow in Bennington. We'll talk about why sap flows and the evaporation necessary for turning sap to syrup. Then we'll make a craft where the materials change physical form! We'll practice our measuring skills by making some pancakes. Finally, we'll enjoy eating them up, with real maple syrup, of course.

Limited to 12 kids ages 5 - 7. Please wear clothes and boots appropriate for the weather, as some of our time will be outdoors! Please e-mail ashleybrenon@gmail.com to RSVP and to get directions.

Kids interested in regular cooking-related experiences will have an opportunity to start a 4-H club, a youth development group where kids are empowered to do cool stuff. In addition to learning valuable skills, 4-Hers practice self reliance, interdependence, and the principles of democracy and leadership.
