The Annual Stone Valley Community Market Meeting will take place at the Meeting House in Poultney, VT, at 5pm on Thursday, February 21st.
After much deliberation, the board of the Stone Valley Community Market has decided to recommend dissolving the Co-op completely.
The board has come to this decision after taking into account the opinions of the membership as voiced at the recent member forum, and looking critically at the challenges the Co-op now faces in the wake of the upcoming closure of Green Mountain College, the loss of a $10,000 grant, and the dire financial place in which the Co-op finds itself; the board feels strongly that full dissolution is the only reasonable and ethical course forward.
The purpose of the Annual Member Meeting will be for any needed discussion pertaining to the board's recommendation, and for the membership to vote either to accept or reject the board's recommendation to dissolve the cooperative. If the membership votes to reject the board's recommendation, members must be prepared to nominate a new board, as the current board will unanimously resign if the cooperative is not dissolved.
