Reminder of Organizational Meeting Tomorrow at U-32

Past event
Feb 19, 2019

As of today we are still being advice to hold our Organizational meeting.

While the Senate considers whether to delay Act 46 implementation and the Superior Court holds hearings on a petition for an injunction submitted on behalf of plaintiffs suing the state our time line is far from certain.

All townspeople of our five towns Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Middlesex and Worcester are invited
to our organizational meeting for Washington Central Unified Union School District

February 19 at 6pm at the U-32 Auditorium.

The purpose of this meeting is:

-To elect a temporary presiding officer and clerk of the New Unified District from among the
qualified voters of the district.
-To swear in the members of the Transitional Board, who shall immediately assume office and serve until the voters of the New Union District elect the initial members of the new Board of Directors.
-To adopt Roberts or other rules of order, which shall govern the parliamentary procedures.
-To elect a Moderator, Clerk and Treasurer
-To determine a date and location for the first annual meeting of the New Union District.
-To determine whether to vote on the New Union District's budget and all other public questions by Australian ballot.
-To determine whether to elect members of the New Union District Board by Australian ballot.
-To determine and approve compensation if any to be paid to officers and New Union District Board.
-To establish provisions for the payment of any expenses incurred by the New Union district
before it becomes fully operational on July 1,2019.

Just to list some of the purposes of our meeting, the moderator will address any other business determined to be necessary, advisable and that have been warned.

The first meeting of a Transition Board of Directors of the Washington Central Unified Union School District Board will immediately follow the organizational meeting. Each local Board has appointed two representatives.

Thank you for making an effort to participate in the process regardless of how each of us individually feels about Act46, this is a very important meeting. Lets continue to work together to build and understand our interdependence with each other and between our towns.

Respectfully,

Flor Diaz Smith
