Nightshade Kitchen at North End Studios VII

Past event
Feb 21, 2019, 8 to 11 PM

Come on in and join us in the Nightshade Kitchen! Presented in partnership with Foam Brewers and North End Studios, each edition will pair a unique food menu curated from different regional cuisines. Original sounds from:

Strangled Darlings

"...The name of the band draws inspiration from southern author William Faulkner who would tell his writing students that 'sometimes in writing you must strangle your darlings'.

Jess is a trained classical violinist but picked up cello and discovered that she was actually a bass player. George found his degree in English Lit pays better as an indie musician and so learned the mandolin. They have written and toured as a full band but once they decided to tour the US full time and in a 20 foot RV, there was only enough extra room for the little dog.

The music is built on deep sense of rhythm and groove, carried by George on mandolin and Jess on custom tenor bass & foot drums. His mandolin bursts out in a slalom of notes and snare drum rhythms. Her solid body custom tenor bass weaves an intricate counter melody and her feet pound a percussive groove..."

Katy Hellman

With a voice which renders microphones void, smites the apathetic and conducts chaos into forward motion, Katy wields low end frequencies and divines the future.

Adrienne Cooper Smith

Whirlwind banjo riffs combining influences of thrash metal and bluegrass accompany soft, whispered vocals.

~~~~~
As always, we present this event with the belief that a piece of music is enriched when accompanied by a fine meal, that food is similarly enriched when accompanied by a song. The chefs spoon is stirred with the same care and calculation with which the fingers strum a chord, by which the hand pats the back. Finally, this event is made possible and affordable through resources gathered from our community, the voluntary hard work and support of ordinary people and the respect of all guests.
Our intention is for everyone to come hungry and leave heavy, humming a sweet somethin', drunk off the stars with heads full of love and a hankering to pass it on to others.
