Welcome to the Friends Cafe, formerly known as the Ted Cafe. We are broadening our view. Last month we discussed capitalism, an economic system that has done us very well over the last few decades but with the exclusive focus on profit how it is threatening the very underpinnings of our society.

Now for a further discussion of this topic, we will watch an interview with Anand Giridharadas who states that the elite favor progress as long as the solutions never, ever threaten their own wealth and power.

Anand Giridharadas is a former columnist and correspondent for The New York Times and author of "Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World," published by Knopf in 2018.
