You're Invited: Norwich Day at the Vermont State House

Norwich University celebrates its 200th anniversary with a day of special events at the Vermont State House and throughout Montpelier on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
The public is invited to join Norwich officials, faculty, staff, alumni, students and friends for a full day of activities to celebrate this historic milestone:
Highlights of the day include:
• All day: Sullivan Museum and History Center's "Citizens & Soldiers" exhibit on display in the Cedar Creek Room
• 10-11 a.m. & 2-3 p.m.: State House tours with state curator David Schütz highlighting Norwich-related art and artifacts. Meet in the First Floor Lobby.
• 11-11:45 a.m. & 3-3:45 p.m.: Narration of the Battle of Cedar Creek and the role of the Vermont Brigade by Vermont historian Howard Coffin in the Cedar Creek Room.
• 12:30: Signing and reading of State of Vermont Proclamation by Governor Phil Scott. Cedar Creek Room
• 3-4:30 p.m.: Norwich Men's and Women's Ice Hockey teams in action on the State House rink. Enter to win Norwich Hockey play-off tickets.
• 4-5 p.m.: Presentation and book signing with Alex Kershaw, historian and New York Times bestselling author of Citizens & Soldiers: The First 200 Years of Norwich University in Room 11.
• 7:30-8:30 p.m.: Farmer's Night Concert featuring the Norwich University Regimental Band, the nation's oldest collegiate band. This free concert is performed in the House Chamber.

Norwich University is partnering with Montpelier merchants to offer special promotions and chances to win prizes in a scavenger hunt from Feb. 11 – 19. Participating businesses include: Birchgrove Baking, Global Gifts, Bailey Road, Capitol Stationers, Woodbury Mountain Toys, Rebel Heart, No. 9 Boutique, The Alley, Chill Gelato, Capitol Grounds, Guitar Sam, Splash, Alla Vita, Capital Kitchen, Marigold Adornment, Salaam, Roam Vermont, North Branch Café, Sweet Melissa's, Sarduccis, The Drawing Board, Delish, and Bear Pond Books. Also on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 5-7 p.m. Three Penny Taproom on Main Street in Montpelier will donate $1 to The Veterans' Place – a transitional house in Northfield – from every 14th Star Brewery beer sold.
