Do you work or live with a child on the autism spectrum, or do you know someone with related socio-cognitive needs? The Stern Center launches a graduate level course, Social Cognition I, in March that covers assessment and intervention for individuals presenting with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), but it covers a wide range of info that's applicable across all grade levels and disciplines. "This is hands down the best professional learning experience I've ever had," said an elementary art teacher, Joanna Elliott, who took this course recently. "I use it constantly to help students focus on the perspective-taking needed to negotiate daily childhood conflicts." Learn how to support all students with practical interventions, strategies and supports for improving social understanding. Participants will also learn how to run Social Cognition groups. The course runs Mondays & Tuesdays starting March 4 and ending April 8, 2019, and it costs $850. GRANT FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO QUALIFIED APPLICANTS FOR ALL COURSES THROUGH THE CYNTHIA K. HOEHL INSTITUTE FOR EXCELLENCE. Details and registration info here: http://bit.ly/2FDaVNd
