With four open seats on the Select Board as well as a number of other town positions, there is broad interest in this March's town election. It is exciting that there are contested races for all the open Select Board positions.
The Friends of Pownal, Inc. invites the citizens of Pownal to a Candidate Forum on February 11, 2019 at the Pownal Elementary School gym from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. All 15 candidates have been invited to participate. The evening will begin with a brief self introduction by each candidate which includes why they are running, any past positions or services they have provided the community, the skills each brings to the position, and their priorities and aspirations if elected.
Following this introductory session, citizens present will be invited to participate in a question and answer sessions. Questions are limited to a candidate's position on items of interest to the town or questions regarding comments the candidate has stated publicly. Questions and answers will be time limited Though a question is addressed to a particular candidate, each candidate will be offer the opportunity to also answer the question.
Following the forum, light refreshments will be served and candidates and citizens will be free to continue informal conversations.
CAT-TV will be present to video tape the event and make it available on You Tube.
The Friends of Pownal has hosted these non-partisan candidate events for the past number of years and expect to offer them each year. We welcome your feedback after the event.
