PRE-TOWN MEETING
TOWN MEETING
On Tuesday, February 19th beginning at 7pm, there will be a special meeting for the Town of Alburgh.
The purpose of this meeting is to explain what additional articles will appear on the ballot this year, why they are there and answer any questions that the public has about these articles.
This meeting will begin at 7pm and will be held in the Bingo Hall located at 60 Firehouse Road. (The same place as voting.) This meeting will not take the place of the regular Town meeting that will be held on Monday, March 4th at 7pm at the school, but will serve as an informational meeting for the public so that they have a clear understanding, prior to voting early, what they are voting on and why.
Please join the Selectboard and representatives from the Fire Department as they explain what the additional articles mean and why they are needed.
All ballot items are listed below. Articles 3-7 are yearly articles. Articles 8, 11, 12, 13 and 14 (underlined) are new articles that will appear on this year's ballot.
ARTICLE #3. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE TO APPROVE A BUDGET OF $673,668.00 WITH THE AMOUNT OF $520,268.00 TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION, TO BE USED FOR GENERAL TOWN PURPOSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2019 – 2020 (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #4. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE TO APPROVE A BUDGET OF $810,350.00 WITH THE AMOUNT OF $556,850.00 TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION, TO BE USED FOR YEAR-AROUND MAINTENANCE OF TOWN HIGHWAYS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2019 - 2020 (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #5. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE THE SUM OF $60,000.00 TO BE USED TO BLACKTOP TOWN HIGHWAYS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2019- 2020 (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #6. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE THE SUM OF $ 55,000.00 TO THE ALBURGH VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INCORPORATED FOR GENERAL PURPOSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2019 - 2020 (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #7. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE THE SUM OF $ 15,000.00 TO THE ALBURGH VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INCORPORATED FOR A RESERVE FUND TO BE USED TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2019 - 2020 (Ballot Item)

ARTICLE #8. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE TO APPROVE, AN ANNUAL RESERVE FUND, TO THE ALBURGH VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INCORPORATED, IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,000.00 TO BE USED AS A CAPITAL EQUIPMENT FUND FOR REPLACEMENT OF FIRE VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #11. SHALL THE VOTERS INSTRUCT THE SELECTBOARD TO ACT NOW TO GENERATE AN ORDINANCE ALLOWING THE USE OF LEGALLY REGISTERED, INSURED AND OPERATED ATV'S ON TOWN ROADS. HELMETS WOULD BE REQUIRED WHERE SEAT BELTS AREN'T AVAILABLE AND A SUGGESTED SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH FOR ATV'S (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #12: SHALL THE VOTERS AUTHORIZE TAX EXEMPT STATUS BE GIVEN TO THE ALBURGH ROD & GUN CLUB. (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #13. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE TO CHANGE THE TOWN CLERK POSITION FROM A 1(ONE) YEAR TERM TO A 3 (THREE) YEAR TERM BEGINNING WITH THE 2020 ELECTION (Ballot Item)
ARTICLE #14. SHALL THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN VOTE TO CHANGE THE TOWN TREASURER POSITION FROM A 1(ONE) YEAR TERM TO A 3 (THREE) YEAR TERM BEGINNING WITH THE 2020 ELECTION (Ballot Item)
